My interest in Tobacco collectibles started when I was about 9 years old, when I was given a collection of old cigarette packets by my Grandfather. Many were pre 1900 and were absolutely beautiful and from that point on I was hooked on the hobby, I added many to the collection until, stupid youth that I was, I swapped it for a much wanted No 10 Meccano set.
In 1969 I started work in a Tobacconist shop in Bristol and then spent the next 30 years working in the Retail Tobacco industry. During this time my interest in Tobacciana was revived and I acquired, handled and sold many beautiful and rare tobacco related collectibles.
Now aged 70 years, I simply enjoy hunting for rare and unusual tobacco tins and cigarette packets and I am never happier than when rooting around boot sales and collectors fairs looking for the ever harder to find gems.
My personal collection is focused upon pre-1940 tins and packets and ephemera and in particular those produced by Salmon & Gluckstein who went out of business in 1902. This is a really interesting period in the history of Tobacco and anything from the era fascinates me.
I buy and sell Tins and Packets to support my hobby and to maintain the Tobacco Collectibles website and will always make a fair and reasonable offer for individual items or entire collections.
