Hi saw someone on a Facebook group asking for information about this tin but no responses so far.

Unsure whether its tobacco, snuff or other substance.

They said it 105mm diameter by 30mm high.

Only markings are on top of tin label.

George Jackson & Co were founded in 1732 at the same time as Walkers Tobacco Co.  Although I cannot find any further information about George Jackson, Walkers who were very successful, sold a range of tobaccos named Sea Dog between 1925 and 1945. It is possible that these firms merged at some point or perhaps Walkers were selling the brand under license. The size of the tin and type of closure shown in the picture would tie in with the date range given.

Hope this helps
